18.october: another excuse to make dessert! Things have been a bit crazy around here lately -- working two jobs (both completely unrelated to food, unfortunately) for the next few weeks -- and I haven't been able to pay as much attention to this blog as I would like. BUT: I'm still here! I swear! Between working, sleeping, eating and planning our wedding my schedule has been a bit full...but I promise there are more food tales to come. Actually, this weekend my food group is coming over to share appetizer recipes (for said upcoming wedding) and I am also attending some sort of lecture on wine pairing with food for a wedding Sunday mid-day. So stay tuned! I came home today to my email inbox harboring a few notes asking about the sequel to the first Sugar High Friday...so I thought I could spare a few minutes to announce (drum roll please!) the upcoming "theme". Are you ready? Are you sure you're ready? Okay. APPLES. Yep. I figured it's autumn; meaning there are tons of apples falling from the apple trees. I also figured that there are a myriad of delicious recipes out there in which these, the most tempting of fruits, are metamorphosed into delectable desserts. So, for SHF: ISTBE # 2, I deem the ingredient/theme to be: Desserts with Apples. Go nuts (heck, add nuts!): bake, freeze, juice, fry...you name it, but do it with Apples. And then write about it all on Friday, November the 12th. Send me an email and I'll do a round-up the following day. Oh, and if you need any inspiration, check out this amazing online (free!) cookbook from Scott Carsberg of tastingmenu, dedicated specifically to apples. |
