Our wedding last year is a memory S. and I will always cherish. From the first stages of the planning to the constant cooking and baking. From setting up the site that day to the last minute crazy details. From my walk down the aisle (me crying and laughing uncontrollably) to us saying "I do". From the reception to the laughter and the wine and the food and all those desserts...it was all a wonderful experience.

Through it all you were there for me. My complaints, my problems, my good days and my bad. You gave me support, ideas, and words of encouragement; and for that I truly need to say thank you. And, in order to really thank you, I want to give something away...and since I was approached by Vintage & Anchor Books about a contest to give away paperback copies of a book, I thought it might be a really great way to thank at least three of you.

The book is called Epicure's Lament, written by Kate Christiansen. The hard-cover edition has been out for a while now and there are a few good reviews of the book here. I read it and liked it quite a bit - so why not join in on the fun and try to win yourself a free copy?

So this is how it is going to go down...I want you to write your favourite special occasion recipe and story. A fabulous hors d'oeuvre from a wedding, your home made cake from a special birthday celebration, your sweetie's Valentine's Day specialty, your mom's Thanksgiving turkey, your scrumptious Christmas cookie, your super Fourth of July potato salad, aunt Helen's famous Flag Day bouillabaisse (I think you get the point)... Post* the story behind where the recipe came from or how the memory of the dish makes you feel and the recipe on or before Friday February 18th and send me an email with a link to it. I'll post a list of the entries on Saturday the 19th and the winners will be announced a few days later. Your copy of Epicure's Lament will be sent directly from Vintage & Anchor books after that.
